Summer 2025, Still Emulating Whitman

Apohadion Theater, Portland, ME, June 8, 2025

The show at the Apohadion with Lily Seabird and Hemlock was especially nice. Our friend Victor caught this picture of me—in a shirt created by my partner’s mother. It reminds me, unsurprisingly, of the frontispiece to Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass. Whitman remains one of my most precious spiritual and philosophical influences.

Lots more Chico States coming up, including a release show on October 23rd at Blue in Portland. In fact, we just played last night at Prism Analog with Whip Appeal and Ruby Lou—a fun one amidst the last days of their downtown recording studio and venue, apparently. Wish I’d known it better…

Flyer for Lily Seabird, Hemlock, The Clearwater Swimmers, and Chico States at The Apohadion Theater in Portland, Maine on June 8th at 7pm, $10 cover. Flyer features a reservoir of water reflecting clouds and a windmill in a blue western sky. The text was created on burnt paper; three matches and a few hand-drawn butterflies sit three-dimensionally upon the picture's surface. This is the venue's event listing, the flyer overlaid on a bright green background with show details in type below.
